i. This event is driven by help from PTC volunteers!

  1. Morning drop-off going well with new time change at 8:25am - so far so good

  2. Afternoon dismissal also going well

  3. Volunteers

i. Cannonsburg Elementary has tightened up security protocols due to the current school safety environment we live in and federal regulations. To ensure the safety of our children, visitors to the school can only come into the school if they’re signed up as a volunteer...so volunteer!! Volunteering is important and wonderful for our students! Make sure families are signed up through the Raptor system at: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NTcxMTplbi1VUw==

When you come to volunteer, you will enter the front office and swipe your license. FYI there is a new button on the sign-in computer to select for PTC if that is your purpose in the building.

k. Kids Hope with Cannon Baptist Church – great partnership with community members. This church is looking for support too.

l. Relaunching Watch D.O.G.S. program (Dads of Great Students) – interact with your personal children! Dads, uncles, grandpas, etc. Can do it every week, once a month, one time, etc. Get to attach to your kid throughout the day: PE, art, reading in classroom, etc. Can be a full day or a half day.

  1. Need to hire Paraprofessional support positions – opportunities are available so please contact Matt Zokoe if you are interested!

  2. Grants coming in, match funds, spread what we can

  3. Outdoor classroom – putting in 24 hammocks for a hammock garden for quiet

reading, slack lines, interactive activities. Being utilized, mostly Fridays. Teachers

sign up for time so no overlap.

  4. Classroom learning buddies launching

  5. Furniture pilot in TenBrink’s room – one of the 3 pilots happening. Collaborative

    furniture experience.

  6. Scoop pad is replaced with IXL.

  7. Early release on the 21st 1pm dismissal

Treasurer Report

  1. Note: Jen brought in a budget handout, and this will be available to view on the PTC website after tonight’s meeting. www.cannonsburgptc.wixsite.com

  2. PTC reviewed the past budgets and made decisions based on pre-covid/covid and what makes sense this year. End goal is “similar and sustainable”

  3. Handout shows the expenses and what the funds are going toward, money we are trying to raise by category, corporate sponsors’ donation amounts/details.

  4. 22 sponsors so far have donated!

  5. Once Cub Crawl wraps up, we can go back and update the budget depending on

    what was raised.

Old Business

a. Mileage club started back up
i. More than 80 kids are signed up so far!

New Business

a. Grants

  1. Lindsay Behl – writing desk

    1. Lindsay Behl’s husband made a writing desk for her classroom. It is placed against a wall that wasn’t being utilized. It has storage, bulletin board, sensory wall.

    2. Zokoe mentioned that the new protocol for grant requests is that when someone proposes a grant, they need to present it in-person at the PTC meeting.

    3. Motion to table this until next month’s PTC meeting so that Lindsay can present – Motion approved.

  2. Nicole Brunner – 9 Square game for playground

1. The students at Cannonsburg Elementary have been grateful for

the 9 square equipment that was donated to the school over two years ago. Nine square is a game students enjoy playing at recess.

However, the current set we have is in need of replacement as it is daily needing to be put back together. Nicole is seeking funds from the PTC to replace our current nine square with a new one. The new one is adjustable so everyone can play. She found one that other schools use and have great reviews for.

  1. Asking for 1⁄2 the cost, which equals $439. Mr. Zokoe has stated he would be willing to cover the other half of the cost through the school building fund. Covers shipping and includes a $50 education discount. Great space for it too – newly paved area of playground that’s not utilized very much. 1 year warranty.

  2. Motion to approve: All in favor. Grant approved.

b. Fundraisers

i. Cowlicks ice cream and Lamoreaux Meat sales (both owned by Jason Lamoreaux lamfundraising.com on Belding road)

1. 2.

3. 4. 5.

6.

Cowlicks gave $1 off tickets for everyone who comes to the climb. Ice cream nights at Cowlicks - he can give us back 15% (open year-round)
Meat sales - he can give us back 20%

He will come to our next PTC meeting to present
Package it in a way to show how it impacts our school – think about using Rockford Dollars, that way our school gets a kickback – great ideas for Christmas time for gifts.
Maybe add Herman’s Boy to this package – they can create a coffee blend “Cannonsburg Blend”.

c. Family Night

  1. Conference meals for Nov 8th night where we feed the teachers. 18-20

meals. Note from Mr. Zokoe: if buying the meals, Trinis in Sparta is a better deal than Qudoba. Only order 75% of what you think you’ll need, historically this has been enough. Usually about $550. Or make food in crockpot meals (FYI the crockpots stay at the school until the next day for leftovers).

  2. Breakfast with Santa – local author available to read at 3 different times during the event (Dec 3rd or 4th) – Maybe incorporate the fire department.

    1. It was mentioned that the 3rd is the Rockford Christmas parade so we will need to look at doing this on the 4th.

    2. Joanna Grim has offered to chair!

  3. Tubing at Cannonsburg Ski Hill (Jan) – they will give us a day (a block of

time) when it’s just our group out there.

  4. Art Prize Cannonsburg Edition night (March) – need to start brainstorming

on this with Mrs. Bailey. Maybe work on the art in art class or at home.

  5. Carnival (spring) – this event takes many volunteers to put together!

Planning, decorating, running games, popcorn, food trucks, etc.

Committee Chairs needed

vi. Talent show (May) – this has been virtual for the past two years due to Covid but this year we are hoping for in person with popcorn! In the evening – outside on June 1st. Typically, we have it on one of our 1⁄2 days. Corie Dykhouse and Sharla Wilkerson will chair it.

 Current Event Projects

a. Cub Fundraiser (Cub Climb/Cub Crawl)

  1. So far have 10 volunteers! (More are always welcome!)

  2. Incorporating outdoor classroom into the Cub Crawl route this year

  3. Flyers will be printed out and sent home in backpacks this week to explain

    both events

  4. Timeline was handed out (this will be available on the website and

teachers will be sent a copy) – includes important dates, deadlines, links,

    etc.)

  5. Using Fundhub this year again for fundraising – that will open the night of

the Cub Climb to kick it off!

  6. Shirts will be black and white on tie dye shirt

  7. Security component to this – must be safe and follow all protocols. Everyone at the school MUST be signed up as a volunteer and get signed in at the front desk (see above 2.j.i)

  8. Incentives - any ideas are welcome! So far:

    1. Stickers along the way up the hill

    2. Glow sticks at the top

    3. Reusable water bottles at the bottom

  9. Chick-fil-A truck coming! Cash, credit, or apple pay

Additional items

a. Sara Nowinsk’s husband works in water chemistry business and said that the PFAS regulations have lowered their limits. Mr. Zokoe ensured our wells are safe and since the Great Start Readiness program just started, the wells were tested this past week.
